NATO what's being said
« on: February 16, 2017, 05:16:00 AM »
The US wants to see each of the capitals to commit on an equal level
Quote
"America will meet its responsibilities, but if your nations do not want to see America moderate its commitment to this alliance, each of your capitals needs to show support for our common defence," Mr Mattis said.

"No longer can the American taxpayer carry a disproportionate share of the defence of Western values.

Fair is fair I guess, each allied country should pony up a fair share.

I don't know myself but how is fairness measured....is it a percentage of each country's budget to go toward defence?

Sounds like it's not a set amount but according to this the U.S. pays about 72%...  total defense spending of all NATO members stood at about $900 billion in 2015 in current dollars. The United States’ share was about $650 billion.   Trump has a good point.

Yes, each country should pony up their share. Why should the US tax payers put up all this money? Then to have all these countries look down upon us as well? That is just not fair.
Trump is trying to curb the spending and the budgets of all the issues. He's got to start somewhere.

Fair is fair, but this money is for expanding the Military.

Quote
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Thursday that Europe must not cave in to U.S demands to raise military spending, arguing that development and humanitarian aid could also count as security.

Quote
U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis warned North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies on Wednesday that they must honor military spending pledges to make sure the United States does not moderate its support.

Quote
"It has been the American message for many, many years. I am very much against letting ourselves be pushed into this," Juncker said in a speech on the sidelines of the international Munich Security Conference.

Then we all stick in the same amount. Not 75% for the US and 25% for everyone else.

NATO should be disbanded. It is now part of the problem, especially with Turkey as a member.

What would you suggest as an alternative Rog?

Something that offers defence against the real enemy, Islam.
