Canned Salmon Bones & Skin
« on: April 12, 2017, 06:19:56 AM »
Do you eat that slimey skin....not me, I remove every last smidgen. I question why that could not be done when processed since you pay over 3 bucks for that little can.

I do however crush the bones up as they are calcium.

And while we are on the fish subject can anyone tell me of a good way to prepare sardines? Why are these yucky fish so good for you

I don't have a problem with the skin but I'm not a fan of canned salmon, do like tuna though and fresh salmon..also like sardines, skin and all.

Salmon, and sardines are both very high in Omega 3's which is why I am trying to incorporate more of them into our diet. Most of the other fish have nowhere near the content.

We eat everything, most times I mix it up with a bit of mayo. My wife eats sardines with vinegar , actually not bad but I prefer them plain.

I know, that's why I eat them also but I do like them so it's a win win situation in my case.  :sun smile:

I like any type of seafood except scallops which gives me hives if I consume it.  Fish with bones gives  more calcium so do not debone it.  Extra omega might be in the skin.

I add a little cider vinegar to cut down on the fishy smell and season with pepper, chopped celery and onion.  sometimes a little mayo to keep it together.

I add a couple of teaspoons but it is your choice.  More if you like.  Sometimes I like more.

I enjoy canned fish like tuna or salmon. But forget the others, you can keep your smelly ole sardines..

Sorry but I pick the salmon apart after I remove from the can..

Good salmon or tuna steak is excellent..

I love canned salmon any way.  i often have it in a salad for lunch or with mayo in a sandwich.  I will eat sardines but not my favourite.  I do however like canned oysters, a luncheon fav .also.  I buy all my canned fish at Costco much cheaper.

I fish out the bones and skin, add a bit of vinegar and mayo.   Sometimes I mix the mayo first with pepper and the vinegar...    I do that for potato salad but add some sugar to it (I also mix some french dressing in first then let it sit for a bit.)
