Which Vaccines Are You Up To Date On?
« on: April 13, 2017, 09:58:23 AM »
I think the last vaccine shot I had I was in high school when I got a tetanus shot.

Ashamed to admit that I don't know which we should be getting repeats on

Lots of commercials for the shingles vaccine but other than that there is no focus on the others.

I had a shingles shot a few years ago and I had a flu shot when I volunteered at the hospital..

Also had a tetanus shot a few years ago when my dog accidentally bit me...just a precaution.

Thinking next year I'll get a flu shot because I was very sick with Bronchitis and I don't ever want to be that sick again.

All old age pensioners get free shots here in the UK....

so far, Ive had the flu shot every Autumn since turning 60...(usually 65)...
also had one for pneumonia...
The Shingles shot is for certain age groups.....70 and 78....
I will get the shingles shot this year, as Im 70 next month...
All prescriptions are free for us old folk here...
The more people I meet, the more I love my dog !

In Alberta seniors pay 200.00 for the pneumonia shot!  I never have had it as seldom do I have respiratory problems.

My error, it's the shingles shot we have to pay for, pneumonia is free!

Not sure, but I think Ontario now pays for the shingles shot...    don't ever want to get that, I hear it is very painful.

To get the free shingles vaccine, you must be 65 to 70 years old.

If you don’t qualify for the free shingles vaccine, you can still get vaccinated with a prescription from your family doctor or other primary care provider. But you have to pay for it yourself.

I just got the shingles and pneumonia shots this year at the Doctor's, and I am 79 years old..

She bugged me for about 4 years to get the shingles shot, then I come in a couple months ago for my check up and she brings out the needles, and say's Ronald, there free now..so are you having them, I say sure..free is good..

I take advantage of anything offered here for free:

ie:  shots, ECG, blood pressure, mammograms, home bowel testing kits...Xrays...
yet a few of my friends refuse them all....
they say they are really healthy so refuse them...
I say...better safe than sorry !
The more people I meet, the more I love my dog !

Yea I have a step daughter who thinks as long as she pops vitamin pills, she's ok.. Yea she refused for ages to see any Doctors..Now that she is in her 60's she is learning the hard way, she has had a few problems..and has now seen a couple of Doctors..

Thats a shame, Ronald....

I have a friend who is 72.....she says that because her general health is good, she
does not have any shots etc.....

but to me, that is being plain silly..... :Whistling:
