last week I had to have a biopsy for prostrate cancer,,i had 18 samples taken from my prostrate, very painfull,,I am still bleeding, but have been told it could take up to 21 days to stop.
I am now waiting for the results, worrying times, sleepless nights, and working most of the day to take my mind off of things.has anyone here been through this.
ladies I now know what its like to wear sanitary towels, and cotton knickers,be glad when I can get shot of them lol

Aww, hugs to you Hic but don't worry, I've know a few with prostrate cancer and usually it's very slow growing, they say you will probably die of something else and not the prostrate cancer.

I know some one on another forum that I met 13 years ago, he's 92 now and still kicking on another forum.

Of course I hope your results come back negative.

I am hoping for the best for you too Hic and what Selena says is what I have heard also. Many new techniques out now also.

I know Paul was upset last week coming out of the doc's office.....all I heard was mumbling about "good thing he has long skinny fingers"

There are various types of prostate cancer, the most common are the slow growing and the dangerous aggressive types.  Depending on your age, some cancers can be left untreated due to their slow growth, others should be treated immediately.  I was once told that after 55 you can take your age and put a % sign behind it, and that is your chance of having prostate cancer, more so if it runs in the family.  A couple of my friends diagnosed with cancer in their late 60s have had their prostates completely removed rather than have the continual worry of it spreading to other organs.   For the past 10 yrs of so, I have had an enlarged prostate, as do most older men, and am presently taking a prostate reducing drug, Avodart. It has worked for me, and my PSA dropped significantly, good thing or it would have been a biopsy for cancer.  I go to the specialist every year for the "finger", not a pleasant visit but necessary.. and I'm always apprehensive for the previous weeks leading up to it.  Good luck Hic, hopefully the biopsy pain is worth the results and they come back negative.

Hic don't let this get you down.. Read this and learn more about it.  http://www.cancer.ca/en/cancer-information/cancer-type/prostate/prostate-cancer/?region=on

My brother had the aggressive type. The kind of guy he was, he prepared for everything in advance, took care of all the family affairs, made provisions for everyone.. He did suffer, but not once did he complain, as they say he passed away from open heart surgery..
